It seems fitting that the very first blog post would be titled NUMBER 1! Original, huh? Well, beyond the fact that this is my NUMBER 1 blog post, there is something to be said about NUMBER 1 in each of our lives... We all know that there is a first time for everything in life... First tooth, first day of school, first crush, first love, first trip, first child, etc. So many firsts...many of which are to be celebrated, and then many of which can break our hearts. Can you recall your first heartbreak? I know I can! Devastating! Life seemed as if it were over! Yet, look at where I am today...so far removed from that trial in my life. Many, many more heartaches have followed, and each of them allowed a new lesson to be learned and allowed me to grow in ways I never imagined. In those heart-wrenching moments in life, it is good to pause and think of the NUMBER 1! What is your number 1 in life? Is it the very thing that broke your heart? Is it a person, place, or thing? Well, that may in fact be part of the problem, if not ALL of the problem! Our number 1 needs to be far beyond anything the eye can behold and anything our hands can hold. Our NUMBER 1 should be the eternal God of the universe, the One who created you and me! He knows all things, allows all things, and loves us more than any human can love us and knows infinitely more than our finite eyes can even begin to see! Once we have our lives aligned with His grace, His truth, His plan... our NUMBER 1 will be far greater than anything that crosses our physical paths here on earth. In those moments of disillusion, or even in the moments of grand elation, we need to recall another NUMBER 1 to our hearts and minds... What is the first thing we are going to do? NUMBER 1 action. Our NUMBER 1 action should always be to STOP...and put that moment into perspective. What just happened may be 10 seconds of the 86,400 seconds we are given each day, or 10 minutes out of the 10,080 minutes we are given each week... PERSPECTIVE, folks, PERSPECTIVE - it matters! Those 10 seconds, or 10 minutes, or whatever length of time - they will pass, and they need to be taken in context of the greater and grander picture... that amazing tapestry that our first NUMBER 1 (God) is weaving together, and I can tell you from experience, I have tried to take over weaving that tapestry and it gets very ugly, very fast. Leave Him in control, trust and follow, and live each moment of each day in perspective of the WHOLE wonderful and amazing LIFE you are living!
